Holy Cross Central Announces New Principal

Gring1

After a national search, the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has announced that Matthew Gring will be the next principal of Holy Cross Central Catholic School, a Notre Dame ACE Academy in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

“Mr. Gring brings a compassion and deep understanding of how an excellent Catholic education develops students and their community,” said Gina Fleming, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools. “He will be an excellent fit with the teachers at Holy Cross as they work together to put children on the path to college and heaven.”

Gring is currently the vice principal at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Pinellas Park, Florida. Like Holy Cross, Sacred Heart is a Notre Dame ACE Academy. The Notre Dame ACE Academies are a national network of schools operated in partnerships between the University of Notre Dame and (arch)dioceses that focus on continuous improvement in teaching and learning, Catholic school culture, and financial sustainability.

“I believe that serving in Catholic education is a ministry, one that focuses on helping all students, teachers, and other community members grow spiritually, academically, and personally,” Gring said. “I cannot wait to get started at Holy Cross.”

Prior to serving as vice principal, Gring taught religion to third-graders and social studies and religion to middle school students at St. Ambrose Catholic School in Tucson, Arizona. He also worked there as a coach, athletic director, liturgical coordinator, and chair of the school culture professional learning community.

Gring earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s degrees in education and educational leadership from the University of Notre Dame. He will start at Holy Cross on June 26.
